Staying on track over the holidays
Most people want to put macro tracking (or any kind of nutrition monitoring) away during the holidays.
Which is understandable!
If that is you, here are some alternative goals or focuses to work on during this time of the year.
Setting realistic goals will help you keep promises to yourself this season and support feeling your best!
Track protein only or set a minimum goal:
Protein keeps you full. When adequately satiated, it’s easier to skip unhealthy snacks that aren’t worth the calories (and save those calories for treats you care about).Set hydration and sleep goals:
Being healthy is more than what you eat—how much you drink and how many zzzs you catch also play into feeling your best. Set measurable, check-off-able goals like “drink 2l of water a day” and “get 8 hours of sleep each night.
Move every day:
Whether you’re hitting the gym or going for a family walk, getting in some movement each day improves mood, energy, and overall health. Pro tip: if you’re travelling and spending time with loved ones, get your movement done early before the day gets busy!
Focus on building a balanced plate:
Putting your tracker and food scale away doesn’t mean everything you know about food goes out the window. Fill your plate with protein and veggies before adding smaller portions of starchy carbs and fat-heavy sides.
5. Get a Coach:
Contrary to popular belief, the holidays are the BEST time to start a nutrition program—especially one where your coach is a real-life person who loves cookies as much as you do and won’t tell you to skip your favourites.
We work with you to determine your goals, look at your holiday schedule, and guide you in making choices you’re proud of while enjoying everything this season has to offer.
